Mishawaka's Rohrer shatters state record with state title win in 2-mile run

Mishawaka junior Anna Rohrer is the state champion in the 3200 meter run once again and this time she shattered the state record.

Rohrer, who missed out on beating Waverly Neer's 2011 record time of 10:20.66 by fractions of a second last year, had no trouble this year cruising to the state title win with an incredible time of 10 minutes and 14.43 seconds Friday night in Bloomington at the IHSAA Track and Field Championships.

Not only did she beat the state meet record by six seconds, she also beat the 2nd place finisher in Friday's race, Kelcy Welch of Carmel, by 30 seconds. Penn's Madison Woods finished 4th and Rochester's Anna Bearss was 6th.

It all comes just months removed from returning from a broken foot that kept her out of action for more than seven months.

Rohrer won the Cross Country National Championship in 2012.

Also on Friday night, Penn freshman Ashleigh Macleod wins the state title in the 800 meter run with a time of two minutes and 11.32 seconds.

In the 4x100 meter relay, Warsaw finished 2nd while Adams finished 3rd.
