Mishawaka man pleads guilty to tampering with VIN

Mishawaka, Ind. A Mishawaka man convicted of several home improvement scams, has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Rick Franklin, 55, is accused of stealing trucks and construction equipment and trying to sell them.

In court this week, Franklin pleaded guilty to the felony charge of "knowingly and intentionally possessing a vehicle which had altered or removed VIN numbers with the intent to dispose".

Sentencing is scheduled for February 18.

Franklin could face up to 20 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
