What began as a routine stop for a traffic infraction became a foot chase in Mishawaka Monday morning.

At 9:39 a.m., a Mishawaka Police officer observed a car tailgating an ambulance through an intersection.

The officer activated a siren and attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver wouldn't stop.

After a short chase, the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot through an alley.

A tip from a neighbor led police to a closed garage near Broadway and Marian, inside of which they found the fleeing man.

A call to Elkhart authorities confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen, and the driver was arrested for resisting law enforcement and auto theft.

The MIshawaka Police Department will release the man's name after their investigation is completed.
