A man who drove into a Mishawaka Avenue storefront was able to walk away with only minor cuts.

At 12:22 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, South Bend Police sent out an alert that Mishawaka Avenue was completely blocked from 24th to Ironwood for an injury accident.

They advised drivers to avoid the area.

When police responded, they found that a brown Mercedes sheared a small tree and crashed through the storefront of "Furniture Factory." The first part of the store name is blacked out on the marquee.

Fortunately, the store was vacant. Just 30 feet over was a restaurant with a number of diners and workers.

The cause of the crash is still unknown. The male driver refused treatment and was released.

Police have reopened Mishawaka Avenue.
