John Young Middle School held its annual "Cultural Awareness Days" for its eighth grade class.
Every year, the school invites speakers and performers from around the world to share their customs and traditions with the students through music, dance and other activities.
Teachers say it's a good opportunity for the kids to better understand diversity and the importance of accepting others despite cultural differences.
Priscilla Dressen is a Spanish teacher at John Young Middle School, “One thing that we really hope they get out of it is to learn a new level of tolerance and non-violence as they interact with people that are different than they are.
Teachers say many of the students are already saving up to travel to other countries and experience another culture first-hand.
