Minor injuries after Niles car hits tree

A drowsy driver miraculously walked away with only minor injuries after he crashed his pick-up truck into a tree.

It happened just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Carberry and Reum Roads just southeast of Niles.

The young man involved told NewsCenter 16 he was on his way home from dropping off his girlfriend at work when he fell asleep behind the wheel.

It wasn't until his pick-up left the road and was barreling down a hill that he woke up.

The truck slammed into a tree but the man's only injuries were a jammed thumb and shoulder pain.

No one else was hurt in the wreck.
