FLINT, Mich. A Flint city councilman is proposing drug testing requirements for elected and appointed officials in the city.
The Flint Journal reports Sheldon Neeley suggested the measure during a committee meeting Monday. He says officials should hold themselves accountable and meet standards required for police and firefighters.
Councilman Eric Mays asked Neeley to include appointed officials in the proposal.
The city attorney says it is legal to drug test.
Neely says an enforcement policy would need to be worked out. He says council members and city appointees would be tested every year.
