Michigan State Police warn of possible scam

Police are warning the public about a new scam that is making the rounds involving law enforcement imposters.

The scam artist poses as a member of the Michigan State Police and tells the victim that there is a warrant for his or her arrest, and he or she needs to pay a fine to avoid being taken into custody.

While there have not been any incidents reported in Southwest Michigan, the Michigan State Police Niles Post wants to remind citizens that they will never call to notify you of a warrant.

They will also never ask for money or your bank account information over the phone.
