Michigan St wins Big Ten Title; knocks Ohio St out of National Title game

Michigan State is headed to the Rose Bowl and Ohio State is not headed to the BCS National Championship Game.

The Spartans defeated Ohio State 34-24 to win the Big Ten Championship Saturday night in Indianapolis.

It's the first loss of the year for the Buckeyes, who were likely headed to the national title game with a victory. Instead it will be Florida State vs Auburn for the BCS Title.

Michigan State is headed to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1988. They're only loss this season coming against Notre Dame, otherwise the Spartans would be playing for a national title.

MSU jumped out to a 17-0 lead on two touchdown passes by Big Ten Championship game MVP Connor Cook. Braxston Miller threw for a touchdown then rushed in for two more as the Buckeyes took a 24-17 lead in the 3rd. MSU would score the game's final 17 points, including another TD pass by Cook to pull out the win.
