In the early morning hours of August 16, in the area of York and Pearl Streets in Michigan City, a woman was forced to the ground, raped, and robbed.
The suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Terry Thomas, fled the area following the rape.
Thanks to a good description given by the victim and key evidence located at the scene of the crime, Thomas was tracked down shortly after the crime and brought to the station for questioning.
Detectives gathered additional evidence and obtained search warrants with the help of Prosecutor Rob Neary, after which Thomas was arrested and subsequently charged with Rape and Robbery.
