A group of students in Michiana are making a television show of their own, producing a local version of the Amazing Race.
Students from 14 area middle schools took part in the Five Star Life Amazing Race. During the competition, each team had to clear check points in South Bend and Elkhart by answering trivia questions and completing challenges.
The program aims to get kids to raise their grade point averages and feel empowered about their futures.
“By bringing them all together on Saturday its basically saying there are 1500 students across Michiana doing exactly what you’re trying to do,” said Judy Gregory, executive director of Five Star Life, “The momentum that comes from that just takes it to whole other level in regard to keeping them on track.”
Five Star Life focuses on kids in middle school in order to help build good habits early on.
