More than 300 people showed up to run and walk in remembrance of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings Monday night.
The event was hosted by the Sunset Coast Striders and featured a 2.62-mile or 1-mile walk-run near downtown St. Joseph.
"It's not just about running, it's about coming together as a community in support of this great country," said Lisa Altman, who ran in the Boston Marathon April 15.
The event wasn't a race, but a chance for Michiana residents to get some closure and lend a hand to those on the East Coast.
Organizers say they also hope the high participation sent a message.
"We have this unbeatable human spirit and we turn it on in the face of adversity and we don't stop," said Sunset Coast Runners Director Jessica Stauffer. "We're not going to stop."
According to the group's Facebook page, the event helped raise more than $500 for One Fund Boston.
It was one of many races held throughout the country over the past week to show support for Boston.
