Michiana commemorates 9-11

Here is a list of events commemorating the September 11th attacks in Michiana:

-Mayor Buttigieg and the South Bend Fire Department will host a ceremony in memory of the 9-11 victims at 8:30 a.m. at Seitz Park

-Blood drives are taking place in Elkhart, Mishawaka and South Bend. Donors will receive a Blue Spruce seedling

-Clay Fire Territory and St. Joseph County Parks will host the "Ringing of the Bell" ceremony at the 9-11 Memorial in St. Patrick's County Park at 9:00 a.m.

-There is a Memorial Ceremony at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, 8:30 a.m.

-Van Buren and Berrien County Red Cross chapters are partnering with AmeriCorps members to recognize a National Day of Service and Patriot Day by landscaping and clearing land at the Benton Harbor Public Library, the new home of a World Trade Center artifact.

-Memorial service at Howe School starting at 8:35 a.m.

-Patriot Day Ceremony at Center Lake Pavilion Island, 6:30 p.m.

-The South Bend Silver Hawks will have a moment of silence and a performance of God Bless America during Game 1 of the playoffs. They will also offer 2 complimentary tickets to all military, police, fire and EMS workers who present I.D.
