Diabetes is a serious health condition that can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, high blood pressure, and blindness. Prediabetes is a potentially reversible condition that often leads to type 2 diabetes, and 79 million people in the United States are estimated to have it.

In the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program a trained lifestyle coach will introduce topics in a supportive, small group environment and encourage participants as they explore how healthy eating, physical activity and behavior changes can benefit their health.

Saturday, April 12, free diabetes risk assessments are being offered at IU-South Bend. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
