The recent outbreak of severe weather struck a nerve with one Michiana girl.

When 10-year-old Maggie heard about the deadly tornadoes down South, it made her sad. She thought about all the children that no longer had homes or toys to play with.

That's why Maggie contacted her Pay It Forward (4H) Club leader and asked if she could do a project to collect toys for those children.

She also spoke to her friend, 10-year-old, Mariah about helping her.

The two are calling their mission the M & M Project.

The girls will have collection boxes up at Beiger Elementary in Mishawaka and Eastwood Elementary in Elkhart until Friday May 9th .

New and gently used toys for all ages are welcome. Bags of M & M’s will be included in all boxes sent also.

For more information on how to help, contact the girls' club leader at 574-361-3338.
