Metro Homicide investigating possible bar beating

Mishawaka, Ind. St. Joseph County Metro Homicide is investigating after doctors say it appears a 23-year-old man was badly beaten.

Sgt. Bill Redman with the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department says officers were called to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m.

That's where Dustin Farling, of Mishawaka, was being treated for life-threatening injuries to his head and face.

Redman says Farling was at the Hide Out Lounge on Chippewa Blvd. Saturday night and into the early hours of the morning.

After he came home early Sunday, his mother found him struggling to breathe around 8 a.m. He also had blood on his face.

She called 911 and Farling was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

While police are still investigating what happened, doctors tell them the Farling's injuries are consistent with being hit.

He underwent surgery Sunday and remains in critical condition. Because of the extent of Farling's injuries, Metro Homicide is handling the investigation.

They're still interviewing witnesses.
