The excitement of triathlons is typically put on hold during the winter months, but Sunday fitness enthusiasts got to put their skills to the test and still stay warm.
Participants had to swim, bike and run inside Memorial Health and Lifestyle in Downtown South Bend. Organizers say the point of this was to allow each person to be as competitive as they wanted to be, and allow beginners to get the feel for a triathlon.
“Lots of people are here with their friends, family cause they want to do it together and try it,” says Event Coordinator Megan Auger. “We want to spread that through community.”
The participants sweated it out for 10 or 15 minutes at each part of the race, with five minute breaks in between.
