Mishawaka, Ind. With the snow falling and Thanksgiving just a few days away some students are getting into the holiday spirit.
Teens from the Penn Harris Township 4-H Junior Leaders went shopping Monday night at Meijer to buy toys for the annual WNDU Toys for Tots Drive. They had fun picking out gifts for kids, and hunted for bargains, to help the United States Marine Core provide presents for area children.
Part of the 4-H pledge is to use their hands for greater service and the students enjoy donating to the community.
“It's fun to look back at the toys and see what's popular versus what was popular then,” says Allison Schoenfeld a member of the Penn Harris Township 4-H Junior Leaders. “I know I had a medical kit when I was little and we all had baby dolls and toys and stuff. “So it's fun to look back and see what other kids get, and it's fun to give that joy that you felt when you got it, to them.”
And if you would like to help bring cheer to children in our area we will be holding our annual Toys for Tots Drive on Saturday December 7 in the WNDU parking lot.
