Medicine drop-off points have successful first month

Elkhart County is 168 pounds lighter after discarding that much weight in unused medications.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the Elkhart County Drug-Free Partnership has been successful in its first month after partnering with local police. They collect unused medications to keep them from getting into the hands of abusers.


    Bristol Police Department: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    Elkhart Police Department: 24/7
    Nappanee Police Department: 24/7
    Goshen Police Department: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays
    Indiana State Toll Road Station: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Wakarusa Police Department: Hours vary daily

This month triad of St. Joseph County is holding a pill drop event.

It will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 10a.m. to 2p.m.. It will be at the Douglas Road fire station at 333 East Douglas Road in Mishawaka, and at the South Bend fire station at 1222 South Michigan Street.

Pills may be brought in plastic bags but liquid medications must be dropped off in their original containers. They are unable to accept needles or sharps.
