Erica McCaffery, who crashed her car into a South Bend home, killing the woman inside, was sentenced by Judge John Marnocha to 12 years in prison for driving under the influence of a controlled substance Monday.
The initial sentencing of Erica McCaffery, 23, was delayed twice after McCaffery pled guilty to charges connected to the death of Barb Knapp.
Back on April 20, McCaffery lost control of her car while drinking and driving. She then crashed into the home of Barb Knapp, killing Knapp and her dog as they slept on a couch inside.
McCaffery admitted to having marijuana in her system at the time of the accident.
