Mayor may veto deputy mayor ordinance

GOSHEN Goshen’s mayor is facing more struggles in his efforts to have a deputy mayor added to the list of city employees.

Tuesday night, the council approved an ordinance to create the new position. But mayor Allan Kauffman isn't happy about the draft, which was changed from his original proposal.

The version he wrote would have allowed him to name appoint any person who's currently employed by the city of Goshen. The version that passed takes city council members out of the mix, with the exception of the council president.

Mayor Kauffman tells the Goshen News he is considering vetoing the new bill.
