Mayor Buttiegieg and staff sell hot dogs on the street for charity

South Bend, Ind. The mayor and his office selling hot dogs on a street corner is not a sight you normally see.

But that's exactly what happened in South Bend on Wednesday.

Mayor Pete Buttiegieg and his staff spent the afternoon grilling hot dogs.

All the money raised will go to help United Way, an organization that sets out to help better communities.

Volunteers with the group say they enjoyed seeing every work together this afternoon.

“Every child, every family, every man, every woman, and we care about their self sufficiency, their health and their education,” explained Kay Ball, President of United Way. “Those are our focus areas and we welcome anybody to be involved in that with us through giving, through advocating, through volunteering.”

Those stopping by the stand could also purchase chips and a drink.
