The Marshall County Police received a report Monday of a possible police impersonator. There has been only one incident reported, which occurred on Saturday, August 16, around 5:30pm on Plymouth-Goshen trail south of U.S. 30 just outside of Plymouth.

The victim reported being pulled over for erratic driving after he swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway. The vehicle was described as a tan, possibly metallic, newer model Ford Taurus with an older style full light bar on top, which displayed flashing red and blue lights. There were no grill lights, spotlight, or decals noticed on the vehicle.

The person was described as a male white, 5’11”-6’ tall, stocky, muscular build, with short blonde hair, brown eyes (not wearing glasses). He was wearing what appeared to be some type of uniform, brown pants with dark stripe down the side, dark brown shirt with no patches, badge, or embroidery noticed on the uniform. He was believed to be wearing a black nylon type gun belt with a gun on his right hip.

The public is reminded that a Police Officer initiating a traffic stop will be either in a fully marked vehicle with Local, County, or State Police emblems on the vehicles or, in the instance of unmarked police vehicles, the officer will be wearing a fully marked uniform with Local, County, or State Police emblems and badges on the uniform.

There has been only one reported incident in the area. If anyone has had any similar encounters, or possible suspect information, please notify the Marshall County Police Department at 574-936-3187.
