The Boy Scouts of America turns 103 on Friday.

In honor of the anniversary, the Marshall County Historical Society will offer special tours of its Boy Scout room, which was dedicated over the summer.

The collection of these items was a labor of love for one Plymouth man who has been involved in scouting for about 20 years.

The Boy Scout room holds uniforms and artifacts dating back to the early 1900s and preserves the history of an organization dedicated to service.

“A lot of things I found were lost history of scouting and through 20 years of research and going through microfilms,” says event organizer Clarence Shively.

“It's pretty awesome. I was here just a few months ago, and this wasn't open yet. I was kind of excited,” says current Boy Scout Curtis Smith. He got to see some of the same badges his grandfather wore when he was a Boy Scout.

Tours will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Marshall County Historical Society in Plymouth.
