As many know, for the past 18 years NewsCenter16 has participated in a Toys for Tots drive. In that time we have helped the Marines collect nearly 330,000 toys.
On Saturday we will be doing the same at several locations, but one high school wanted to show their support on Friday.
Marian High School has been giving to Toys for Tots for more than 20 years now. Students could dress down in exchange for a toy or $5.
Some student athletes were at the door collecting the toys and cash as folks walked by. If the kids did not want to donate they did not have to.
We are told about three boxes were filled full of toys, but cash seemed to be the most popular.
“It's amazing, honestly, to see the look in their eyes when they receive things like this,” said Schuyler Crull, a junior at Marian. “It's incredible how grateful they are for such things that we wouldn't think about daily, that we'd go home and watch TV... We wouldn't even think about the things... The roof over our head, the phones we have, and when you see the look on their eyes it's just astonishing. You can't even believe it."
