Maple syrup season season starts with tree tapping

It's start of the maple syrup season with maple tree tapping.

Thursday New Carlisle will kick off their sugaring operations.

They started tapping several trees in Memorial Park beginning Thursday morning. Memorial Park is locarted in downtown New Carlisle on US 20.

The public is invited to attend. A park naturalist will be on hand to answer any questions about making syrup.

On Saturday Bendix Woods County Park will officially tape their trees during "Tapping Day" and sell their syrup at the Nature Center.
