UPDATE: Coroner says man found in Goshen parking lot died of natural causes

Goshen, Ind. A man’s body was found in a parking lot in Goshen Monday morning.

The initial call came in as a person lying motionless on the ground in a parking lot near Lincoln and Stuery Avenues just after 5 a.m..

Melissa Clark, working nearby says, “They had this entire area blocked off, all the way through, all taped off, couldn't get in or get out.”

The man was later identified as Robert Henke, 59.

His brother, Elkhart Common Council Member David Henke, says Bob disappeared while biking the Pumpkinvine Trail in Goshen Sunday evening. His wife worried when he didn't come home with dinner as promised. The family searched for hours Sunday night before calling police.

Robert Henke’s brother, David Henke says, “His wife and kids were out looking and they didn't want to be the one to find him but after so many hours we determined this was not going to have a positive outcome.”

He was reported missing to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

The coroner's office reports that natural causes has been determined as the cause of death pending toxicology reports.
