Elkhart, Ind. An Elkhart man was in court Thursday, pleading guilty on charges relating to a shooting death at an apartment on Toledo Road. That's according to the Elkhart Truth.
26-year-old Terry Sheets pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and criminal recklessness after the April shooting of Matthew Bark.
Sheets was originally charged with murder but that charge was revised prior to Thursday's appearance in court.
Sheets remained at the scene after shooting Bark, claiming it was self-defense. He told investigators he heard bark and his girlfriend arguing so he grabbed a gun. Bark reportedly also took out a shotgun and that's when sheets fired the fatal shots.
Sheets is set to be sentenced on December 12.
