UPDATE: 21-year-old man shot overnight in South Bend

A man was shot in the chest overnight in South Bend, according to police.

It happened in the 700 block of S. Meade Street at around 12:45 a.m.

Police blocked off the intersection of Meade and Ford as they surveyed the area.

According to police, 21-year-old Cody Miller was sitting outside when a car pulled up and someone inside the vehicle fired several shots at him. The car then drove away.

Miller suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to the hospital.

There are reports of a black SUV in the area around the time of the shooting, but police cannot confirm that the SUV is connected to the case.
