A man who burned his own house down -- rather than lose it in foreclosure -- has been sentenced.
Douglas Wilcox, 62, was supposed to go on trial for the crime last month, but he pleaded guilty to arson, a class B felony.
On Monday, a judge sentenced him to ten years, with five of those suspended on probation.
It all happened about a year ago in the 21000 block of Sandybrook Drive in St. Joseph County.
Wilcox was supposed to give keys to the new owner the day his home burned down.
After a search that lasted a few weeks, police found and arrested him at a casino in Battle Creek.
