Man behind bars for child sexual assault faces new charges

New charges have been brought against a man who is currently serving time for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in fall 2013.

Donald Fester, 26, has been charged in Cass County with two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct for alleged sexual acts he performed with a 13-15 year old girl back in 2007. At the time, Fester was around 19 years old.

According to the Cass County Prosecutor’s office, the charges were processed on March 6, 2014, nearly two weeks after Fester was sentenced to two concurrent prison terms of 7 to 15 years in Berrien County for sexually assaulting a minor.

Fester is scheduled to go to jury trial is Cass County on July 8th.
It does not appear as if the 2007 incident was reported when Fester was arrested, charged, and plead guilty to the 2013 Berrien County assault.

In that case, the 14-year-old girl told police she was walking along River Rd. in Buchanan, near the intersection of Red Bud Trail, when fester picked her up.

She told police Fester drove her to two different locations and sexually assaulted her at both, before dropping her off near a mobile home park.

Police released a photo captured on surveillance tape to the media in November, 2013 and Fester was quickly located.

If found guilty of the 2007 sexual assault it could add more jail time to his current sentence.
