SOUTH BEND A man arrested for five different bank robberies in two states is from South Bend.
The FBI says 59-year-old Dennis Love confessed to bank robberies in Michigan and Indiana after he was captured Friday in Plainwell, Michigan. That's about 40 miles south of Grand Rapids.
Earlier in the day, employees at a PNC Bank in Martin, Michigan locked the door after seeing a man putting on a mask. A teller followed the man, got his license plate number and called police.
Love admitted to stealing $3,400 from Farmers State Bank in Leesburg, Indiana. He also took responsibility for a $6,200 robbery at Honor Credit Union in Berrien Springs in September.
Officials say Love had a hand gun at all of the robberies but never displayed it.
