A man was arrested Monday after Michigan City police received a call for suspicious behavior at City Hall.

The call came around 3:15 pm, and described a subject as armed with a baseball bat, breaking out the exterior door glass in both the north and south corridors.

Units arrived shortly afterwards and took Matthew Allen Wolferd, 28, into custody. Wolferd was restrained and arrested for Criminal Mischief, a Class “C” felony, and Disorderly Conduct, a Class “B’ Misdemeanor.

Wolferd was involved in the destruction of both the inner and outer north and south door entrances to City Hall with a baseball bat. No employees were injured, and he did not enter any offices.

The case remains under investigation.
