A Kosciusko County man is behind bars after allegedly strangling his girlfriend and keeping her confined for almost three days.
It happened Friday evening in the 300 block of Smith St. in Leesburg.
A caller told police that her neighbor, Tamara Wood, may be in danger from her current boyfriend.
When police arrived, they could not get anyone to come to the door. Using a cellular phone, officers talked Wood and her boyfriend out of the home. When Wood emerged, she looked disorientated and had bruises covering her face and neck.
She told officers she had been struck several times and strangled to the point where she almost lost consciousness.
Shane Senter, 37, is preliminarily charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, criminal confinement and strangulation. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
Wood is in serious, but stable condition at the Kosciusko Community Hospital.
