Man arrested after throwing bottles out of his car at passing cars

On Friday, police responded to numerous calls about someone in a red 2008 Dodge Charger driving on the Toll Road throwing beer bottles out at passing cars and signs.

On Friday, police responded to numerous calls about someone in a red 2008 Dodge Charger driving on the Toll Road throwing beer bottles out at passing cars and signs.

The driver was Octavio Martinez, 20, of South Bend.

Police stopped the charger at the 37 mile marker and found several alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle.

The three other occupants of the vehicle had not been drinking and did not throw bottles out of the window.

Martinez was taken to the Porter County Jail and charged with OWI endangerment, open container, driving while suspended, and speeding. He was also driving with a learner’s permit.
