Man accused of 1988 murder of Mishawaka H.S. student appears in court

The cold case suspect in the 1988 murder of Theresa Burns was in court Wednesday.

Phillip Geans, 43, appeared in court to set a trial date.

Metro homicide announced in December that they charged Geans with the 1988 crime.

Burns was a Mishawaka High School student who left school early to change cloths and never returned.

She was later found in dead in her home from multiple gunshot wounds.

Geans is due back in court on June 9 with the trial to begin two weeks later on June 23.
