MISHAWAKA If you were near Beutter Park on Wednesday evening, you probably saw a lot of flashing lights.

An unmarked Mishawaka Police car ended up on the River Walk.

Some people wrote to us saying that the car was stolen from an area 7-Eleven, while others said the car was being driven erratically before it went down the embankment.

Maureen McFadden talked with police officials Thursday afternoon, and they say the car malfunctioned.

Apparently, the vehicle had been having transmissions problems and was worked on at the beginning of the week.

The officer driving the car says the vehicle was running, in park and locked, when it slipped into gear and rolled toward the River Walk.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.
