SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Dozens of women gathered today to support and help pregnant and homeless mothers around Michiana.

This afternoon was the fifth year for the "Women of Hope" luncheon.

WNDU’s own Tricia Sloma served as this year's emcee.

The event is held as a fundraiser for Hannah's House and Bridge of Hope.

Dozens of businesses donated items to be auctioned off during the silent auction.

This year's chosen "Woman of Hope” was the YWCA’s CEO Linda Baechle.

“I know that the main speaker today is the cardiologist of Mother Teresa,” said Baechle. “I know what he talks about is the difference that one person can make, and I know that's what it's all about. The collective good of each one of us doing our part in the community.”

Last year the event raised around $40,000, and organizers hope to top that this year.
