A Long Beach man accused in his wife's death last month has pleaded not guilty.
According to the Harbor Country News, John Larkin, 47, entered a preliminary plea of not guilty to the charge of voluntary manslaughter at his initial hearing. He was charged in the fatal shooting of his wife, Stacey Larkin, 41, who was found dead inside their home in the 2900 block of Lothair Way.
The LaPorte County prosecutor said it appears the couple was fighting when the shooting occurred. The woman had reportedly taken a gun out of a safe in their home, and her husband was trying to get the weapon away from her when it went off.
Larkin will be back in court February 21 for a pretrial hearing.
