INDIANAPOLIS On Tuesday, the Indiana Department of Education released the latest IREAD-3 test results.

The hour-long test evaluates reading levels through grade three and includes questions covering word meanings, context, and comprehension.

Statewide, 85.6% of students passed the test, compared to 85.3% last year.

In the Michiana community, however, results weren't as positive.

Only three of 18 South Bend schools had an above-average number of students who passed.

In Elkhart, only four out of 14 schools were above average.

Results were better in Mishawaka, where four out of seven schools had better than average results.
