A South Bend pastor was nominated for a Grammy award this year, going up against four others for the title of Best Gospel Song. But when the award winner was announced, Jonathan Miller’s name was not called.
The song, “Go Get It” by Erica, Tina and Warryn Campbell took home the 2013 Grammy instead.
Miller is a senior pastor at Faith Apostolic Ministries in South Bend. He co-wrote the song “I Feel Good” with Fred Hammond, a song that caught the attention of the Grammys and earned him a nomination.
Miller told NewsCenter 16 on Friday that even though he got an invitation to attend the award show in Los Angeles, he would stay in South Bend and watch it on television. He said his priority lies with his congregation and will stay in town so he could lead church on Sunday morning.
Even though Miller did not win the golden trophy, on Friday he said “just being nominated was enough. I'm honored."
Also competing in the Best Gospel Song category was “Hold On” by Cheryl Fortune, James Fortune and Terence Vaughn, “My Testimony” by Aaron Lindsey and Marvin Sapp, and “Released” by Donald Lawrence.
