A Christmas tree from our area will soon be making its way to the Indiana State Capitol, according to our reporting partners at WKVI radio.

A 26-foot Concolor Fir growing at Hensler Nursery in Hamlet will be cut down for the Statehouse Rotunda Friday morning.

It will be put on a trailer to Indianapolis in time for a special presentation next Wednesday.

But before it makes the trip, the tree will be on display at Hensler's over the weekend.

The Starke county nursery has provided Indiana's Statehouse Christmas tree for the past 25 years.

Hensler's will also be sending an eight-foot fir tree along for the ride to be displayed in the lieutenant governor's office.
