A traffic stop in Van Buren County netted a convicted felon, who had 3 small children in his car.

A loaded 9mm handgun was found in the driver's glove compartment, shortly after midnight.

An officer from the sheriff's department stopped the car on I-94 in Paw Paw Township, only to find marijuana inside.

The driver, who is not yet being identified, had been convicted of previous drug offenses in Texas.

A passenger in the front seat was also found with drugs, and had a warrant out against her.

The driver was taken to the Van Buren County Jail.

The children were found unharmed, and are with child protective services.
