We may soon see downtown South Bend's riverfront in an entirely different light.
That, thanks to $400,000 worth of lighting improvements- being planned along the St. Joseph river.
Those plans now call for accent and interactive lighting on a bridge, and the falls at the Century Center dam. The project also calls for a light sculpture.
It is all designed to attract more visitors and spur more development along the banks.
Most of the project would be funded through donations, and grants, but the city redevelopment commission is being asked to contribute $12,500 to complete a lighting site plan.
It is hoped the new lights would be turned on in august of 2013.
