Lighthouse Forever Fund receives first major gift

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - Good news came on Friday for the renovation project of the lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan.

The Lighthouse Forever Fund announced that they received their first major gift to fund to the restoration and preservation of the lighthouse.

Aubrey McClendon and Katie Byrns McClendon of Oklahoma City have pledged $100,000 toward the Lighthouse Forever Fund.

Katie grew up in St. Joseph and is the granddaughter of the co-founder of Whirlpool.

She says, “Our family has been in the St. Joseph area for over 100 years, and the lighthouses have stood for generations as an important symbol of the community.”

The official kickoff to the fundraising campaign starts May 16 with the public art exhibit.
