A popular youth center, destroyed by fire, will come down Monday.
Demolition on the Elkhart building that formerly housed Lifeline Youth for Christ begins at 7:30.
The blaze broke out last September in the old Tony’s Shoe Store building, before spreading to Lifeline and an apartment triplex.
The youth center was severely damaged, and only the gymnasium is believed to be usable.
Since the fire, Lifeline has held activities in various locations, and the number of children who attend has actually grown by 25 percent.
The executive director says negotiations have begun to build a new center.
