Less food collected for Stamp Out Hunger in preliminary count

South Bend, Ind. Preliminary numbers are in and this year's Stamp Out Hunger food drive collected about 110,471 pounds of food.

While there are still some donations that will trickle in that number is down from 128,000 collected last year. Their original goal was to collect 200,000 pounds of food.

It is never too late to donate as they need food year round. Just drop off those non-perishable items to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, located at 702 Chapin St. in South Bend. Please make sure the items are not expired.

The food bank serves six counties, including Elkhart, LaPorte, Kosciusko, Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph.
