A South Bend police officer was reportedly hit in the face with what police say was either a rock or brick.

It all happened Sunday morning in the 100 block of Woodward Court in downtown South Bend during a fight.

When police went to break it up, an object was swung into Patrolman Joy Phillips' face.

She was taken to the hospital for a deep cut under her left eye and a broken nose.

Police arrested 30-year-old Kelli Denis White-Vaughn, 30, of Indianapolis for battery to law enforcement, among other felony charges.
