GARY, Ind. Allegiant Air no longer flies out of Gary-Chicago International Airport.
The Times of Munster reports the Las Vegas-based airline flew its last flight out of the northwest Indiana airport on Saturday. Allegiant cited a lack of "strong demand" for the Gary to Orlando-Sanford International Airport flights it began February 2012 as the reason for ceasing the service.
That leaves the airport without regularly scheduled passenger service. Allegiant is the latest in a line of six airlines to test the waters at Gary before pulling out since 1999. One lasted only three weeks.
