Laporte man sentenced following fatal crash

LAPORTE, Ind.--- A man responsible for killing his friend in a drunk driving accident now knows his prison fate.

According to The Times of Northwest Indiana, Thomas Drnek, 31, of Laporte, was sentenced this week to eight years in prison and two years of probation.

His punishment stems from a 2012 accident.

Drnek drove while intoxicated with a friend on US 35 outside of Laporte.

The car veered off the road and hit a grove of trees.

Jacob Anderson, 26, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Drnek suffered minor injuries in this crash.
